Philosophy

Traditionally Hospice is known as services to care cancer patients who are waiting for deathbed within 6 months after they exhausted any further options of chemotherapy. In 21st century, there is a new term called Pharmacy compounding which has lead medical revolutions. Pharmacy compounding is the art and science of preparing personalized medications for patients.

The development of health supplements and natural therapy such as drama therapy, massage therapy, laughter therapy, music therapy, art therapy are used for psychological and spiritual therapies. Phytotherapy is the study of the use of extracts of natural origin as medicines or health-promoting agents.

As results of these various medical advancements, traditionally incurable cancer patients with modern medicine can now extend their life span dramatically. Hence ACC plans to establish an institution of Phytotherapy study for rehabilitation of cancer patients relating to the wholesome therapy and wider areas.

Australian Cancer Care (ACC) is to strive building a healthy, peaceful and trustworthy community and neighbours. As Proverbs 3:27 teaches, “Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is your power to act.” this volunteer spirit of Australian hospice (ACC) is a small movement spreading peace to patients with cancer and their neighbours in Sydney. As we practice them together, we will become grains of transformation for making the assumption of health family community within cancer patients’ family, for creating a peace community among church members, within the churches, and for making Korean immigrant society as a trusted community.

Namely, by working hard at work, by thanking to God and neighbour, and by sharing what we have with one another, we can serve one another in a small light of the community. This exercises our mind that is “to thank, to share, to serve” in our daily lives, as Shalom (shalom, peace) movement.

  • Practice tasks for cancer patients family: Healthy community

     1. Don’t be afraid of cancer, but accept it with positive attitude.

      2. Maintain healthy mind and healthy diet to restore strengths.

      3. Believe that apparent hardships will lead a new hope and make every effort and

then leave the rest to God.

“But for you who revere my name, the sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings. And you will go out and leap like calves released from the stall.” Malachi 4:2

  • Practice tasks for volunteers and Korean community: Peaceful and trustworthy community

     1. Become a reliable shelter for cancer patients and outcasts.

      2. Acknowledge the differences and share, care and thank one another.

      3. As members of multicultural society, become a defender of social justice.

The spirit of Australian Hospice (ACC) is based on Christian ethics. The morality in contemporary society is conducted with the teachings of Confucius who said, "Do not let to others what he does not want."

Anyone who agrees to the philosophy of Australian Hospice (ACC) can join as members. We aim to contribute to bring Shalom to patients with cancer and their families, and further to the society as members of Korean community in Sydney. We invite you to be the co-workers of the hospice (ACC) ministry.
